About

This is book review blog of Adrian D. Mendizabal inspired by Mao’s instructional essay Oppose Book Worship and the need to conduct actual social investigation more than just reading and reviewing books and other related literature. Mao urges us to pursue science-based research to back up our claims.

Where I Read

Kindle Paperwhite 4 (10th Gen)

Last year, in the middle of the pandemic, I bought a Kindle Paperwhite via Lazada. I’m more than satisfied with the move to buy an e-reader because, before this, I carry many physical books in my bag, and now, voila!, no more big heavy books in my backpack. I can read anywhere. And after a year of using the Kindle, my reading pace has accelerated more than ever. It doubled compared to my reading pace more than two years before.

iPad 8th Gen

I mainly use this as a PDF and comics/manga reader. I have a big collection of books in PDFs. I don’t want to open a laptop just to read PDFs and I can’t seem to use the Kindle Paperwhite because of the limitation in screen size. So the solution is to buy the basic iPad.

Physical Books

Even though I read mostly in Kindle now, I still own a large collection of physical books. I still read them when necessary, at home (ever since the pandemic started) or in coffee shops, or wherever. Physical books are here to stay.
